DAILYHOSTNEWS, October 4, 2011 – MPSTOR today released Orkestra, a new cloud services platform based around OpenStackTM. OpenStackTM is an open source, highly scalable operating system launched by NASA and Rackspace in 2010.
Orkestra automatically discovers registers and allocates storage resources to virtual machines thus increasing operational efficiency and profit margins. This allows data center managers to make use of existing IT infrastructure hence, reducing capital expenditure costs and removes the risks of being stuck to one kind of hardware.
Nigel Beighton, vice president in charge of technology at Rackspace said: “Products such as Orkestra are helping the widespread adoption of OpenStackTM, in both public and private cloud configurations, by providing platforms that are easier to install and that can be used with off-the-shelf hardware,”
“MPSTOR understands the complexity and cost associated with starting and growing a state-of-the-art cloud service provider environment,” said Tony McEnroe, CEO of MPSTOR. He further underscored that the primary role of MPSTOR is to offer businesses of all sizes a variety of support options ranging from installation to commissioning of both OpenStackTM and Orkestra deployments.

Orkestra reduces installation and expenditure costs. This coupled with its ability to automatically provision scale-out storage ensures cloud computing cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency.
Brian Garett, vice president, ESG Lab, Enterprise Strategy Group indicated that there is a growing market demand for a new generation of cloud infrastructure platform services and cloud solutions that are open and transparent across APIs. “It is noteworthy that MPSTOR is offering its customers the ability to deploy on-demand compute instances and customize them to handle particular workloads, as well as scalable on-demand storage units,” he added.
MPSTOR was established in 2005 and is based in Cork Ireland. It engages in the design and supply of enclosures, storage servers, and storage management software. MPSTOR’s flagship open-platform storage management software, MPStackware™ scales from entry level to enterprise performance at cost effective prices and runs on standard x86 platforms.
