VNET Group, Inc., a prominent provider of carrier- and cloud-neutral internet data center services in China, has recently formed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shandong Hi-Speed Holdings Group Limited (SDHG). SDHG, a crucial overseas investment and financing entity and an emerging industrial holding platform under Shandong Hi-Speed Group, will collaborate with VNET to develop renewable energy projects in northern China, as announced by the companies.

According to the terms of the agreement, both SDHG and VNET will harness their respective resources and strengths to establish a low-carbon, secure, and highly-efficient renewable energy system. This initiative aligns with the national strategy “East Data, West Computing.” The partnership is set to extend its focus beyond renewable energy, with both entities uniting to construct innovative computing power network infrastructures. These infrastructures will encompass data center services, cloud computing, and big data, contributing to the promotion of low-carbon and high-quality development in the internet data center (IDC) services sector.

Mr. Josh Sheng Chen, Founder and Executive Chairman of VNET, expressed confidence in the synergies that will emerge from the collaboration, stating, “As VNET continues to execute its growth strategy and capitalize on the booming digital economy, the partnership with SDHG will help us to gain a wealth of resources in the infrastructure and renewable energy space. We look forward to collaborating with SDHG in a variety of green energy initiatives to advance toward our carbon neutrality targets and meet surging demand for supercomputing and digital transformation across a broader swath of society.”

Jianbiao Zhu, Executive Director of SDHG, shared his excitement about exploring synergies with VNET to meet the evolving demand driven by artificial intelligence (AI). He highlighted SDHG’s strength in traditional infrastructure and VNET’s capability in new infrastructure, particularly its high-power density deployments. As VNET‘s largest strategic investor, SDHG is eager to collaborate with Josh and the management team, leveraging both domestic and overseas resources to support the ongoing expansion of VNET’s core IDC business for sustainable growth.

The collaboration reflects a commitment to addressing the challenges posed by AI-driven advancements and fostering a future-oriented, environmentally conscious digital landscape.
