Virtual Reality – Endless Possibilities

1 Mins read

Two words that best describe virtual reality (VR) are “endless” and “possibilities.” VR allows teams to set a vision for the future while maintaining a sense of the present.

VR is an emerging technology in industries including home appliances, consumer goods, healthcare, aviation, automotive, etc.

How VR integrates in Home Appliance

World class Manufacturing

Home Appliance continues to upgrade its World Class Manufacturing (WCM) facilities by incorporating VR solutions with production activities and is making a mark in a digitally competitive world.

  • Design for Assembly: Refined the design of our new refrigerators to come up with easy assembly processes for components like the storage box, crisper and door shelves.
  • Operator Reach: There is a significant improvement in the reachability and accessibility for the operator by providing more space at the assembly station. Making use of VR, the team has redefined the assembly process to optimize product designs.

Quality Improvement

In Laundry appliances, virtual verification and analysis are used to optimize the workspace and introduce a greater level of ergonomic friendliness into daily manufacturing and assembly procedures. This activity contributed greatly to time reduction and making sure the operators do not have to perform non-ergonomic activities. This way, Manufacturing facility is intensifying its manufacturing expertise while building safer and better workplaces for its employees.

Value Enhancement to Consumer

Built-in cooktops leveraged VR capabilities to optimize and finalize the product Design by creating data-rich virtual environments and replicating the Consumer needs / requirements. This particular development helped the team to improvise the design of the product and shed some light on possible optimizations in the design & value addition to consumer.

Delivering Results with VR in Home Appliance Industry

Home appliance industry effectively uses the VR platform to create world-class products to meet consumer needs and making products more appealing and user-friendly to the consumer is an important objective.

This way, the virtual platforms are helping to boost collaboration between different verticals, resulting in better products, better processes, better decision-making, and a more effective and efficient organization. Overall, # 33 activities within different product ranges, adding value to the business, led to an 87-week lead time reduction and additional cost savings.
