Digital telecommunications infrastructure operator, Telxius, has installed two new scrubbing centers in Latin America to boost protection against Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks on its network. The new mitigation centers are strategically located, on the Pacific coast, in Lurín, Peru, and on the Atlantic coast, in Santos, Brazil, strengthening the mitigation capacity of its anti-DDoS service.

Telxius has expanded its mitigator services with the addition of two new scrubbing centers, complementing the existing ones in the USA and Europe. These centers leverage the company’s low-latency, high-availability submarine cable infrastructure to efficiently handle traffic.

“Our customers will benefit from advanced DDoS protection and an increased overall mitigation capacity of the service. Latencies will also improve significantly in the delivery of scrubbed traffic in certain regions of South America due to the strategic location of the mitigators, one on each coast of the continent”, said Mónica Martínez, CMO at Telxius.

This new development adds to the security services and infrastructure that Telxius provides in Latin America over its network of high capacity of fibre optic subsea cables, powering the region to meet the needs of enterprises and people while participating in today’s global digital economy.

Telxius’ new development is in addition to its existing network of high-capacity fibre optic subsea cables, which enables the region to cater to the requirements of enterprises and individuals while participating in the current global digital economy.

The Telxius network is spread over 82,000 km of high-capacity fibre-optic submarine cables, which includes seven next-generation systems: Marea, Brusa, Dunant, Tannat, Junior, Mistral and the recently announced Tikal. Five of these are in Latin America. Telxius also has a Tier-1 international IP network (AS 12956) that offers direct Internet connectivity to major carriers and ISPs, with a capacity of over 20 Tbps plus a wide-ranging portfolio of capacity, colocation and security services across the globe.
