Tata Communications Limited has officially completed its acquisition of Kaleyra, Inc., a leading Communication Platform as a Service (CPaaS) provider based in the United States. The acquisition, which was initially announced on June 28, 2023, has now been finalized following approval from Kaleyra’s stockholders, regulatory clearances, and the satisfaction of customary closing conditions.

Under the terms of the agreement, Tata Communications has executed a transaction valued at approximately $100 million in cash, along with assuming all of Kaleyra’s outstanding debt. Kaleyra and its subsidiary companies will now transition into wholly owned subsidiaries of Tata Communications Limited.

Kaleyra has a strong presence in the business communications sector, particularly in banking and financial services, retail, and digital commerce industries on a global scale. It is well-known for its exclusive platforms that facilitate personalization across various communication channels, including messaging, video, push notifications, email, voice-based services, and chatbots.

With this acquisition, Tata Communications is set to bolster its capabilities, empowering worldwide enterprises to deliver exceptionally tailored experiences to their clientele. Additionally, it will also benefit from Kaleyra’s expertise in technology, engineering, and its research & development teams.

This also gives Tata Communications access to Tier 1 carrier connections in the United States, as well as ready-to-use connectors for third-party platforms and enables it  to offer video services seamlessly without the need for additional software plugins.

Regarding the acquisition, Mysore Madhusudhan, Executive Vice President, Collaboration and Connected Solutions, Tata Communications said, “As we further our position in the industry 4.0 world, we are committed to offering heightened targeted communications solutions for enterprises and their customers. We are confident our combined forces with Kaleyra will forge the path for the next wave of intelligence in enterprise communications globally.”

As the digital landscape continues to evolve, this acquisition positions Tata Communications Limited as a prominent player in the CPaaS domain, poised to facilitate advanced communication services for businesses around the world. This strategic alliance is anticipated to bring forth a new era of personalized and efficient communication solutions.
