Plesk Obsidian 18.0.45 is now available with many features like the Website Log Check and much more. Here we shall discuss the updates and new features incorporated in Plesk Obsidian to keep your websites in good shape!

New workflow for creating websites

  • Using a pre-defined option, you can create a new blank website, a WordPress site, upload content using File Manager after creating a website, connect to a Git repository, or import a website from another hosting.
  • The new screen, which is disabled by default, can be enabled by adding the following lines to the panel.ini file:

[domainManagement]

applicationWizard.enabled = true

  • You may use panel.ini to customize the list of available templates.
  • The next steps have been simplified. Name the website, retain the prefilled data by Plesk and view the progress of the created website. You may edit the prefilled data later if required.

Revamped File Manager

  • The new revamped File Manager now has a wide range of features:
  • You may recover any accidentally deleted files from the Recycle Bin.
  • Now easily add content to your website by uploading the website files using Drag and Drop, via URL and uploading and extracting ZIP, RAR, TAR, TGZ, and TAR.GZ archives.
  • Search becomes easy as you can find files by name or part of a file name or by content.
  • Like Plesk for Windows, now Plesk for Linux also supports the feature to change file permissions recursively.
  • The new version enables previewing images and the use of SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) files.

Monitoring

  • Plesk Obsidian is now integrated with 360 Monitoring, which is a new tool present in the Plesk 360 cloud service.
  • 360 Monitoring enables monitoring of website availability, provides various notification channels, and more.
  • Now monitoring infrastructure can be centralized from one Plesk 360 interface.
  • It is possible to monitor CPU, Memory, and Disk usage generated by each subscription in Built-in Monitoring mode with the Cgroups Manager license.

Web-based SSH Terminal

  • Plesk administrator and subscription owners can now access the server from Plesk through a secure web-based SSH (Secure Shell) client. There is no need to access the server to troubleshoot issues.

DNS Helper

The DNS Helper will help put your websites online by:

  • Verifying whether a domain name resolves to the Plesk server IP address and helping to fix the issue if it does not.
  • Giving detailed instructions on configuring and managing DNS records of a domain on the domain registrar side.

Mail Log Browser

  • With the Mail Log Browser for Postfix and qmail, you can check and troubleshoot the mail service. You can check the status of the emails sent to and from your server, filter your email log by date, source, or any string pattern and see the mail log getting updated in real-time.

Resolvable domains and hostnames

  • You will now be able to get a website accessible from the Internet even if you have not yet purchased a domain name. For this, when you create a website, you need to choose a temporary domain name provided by Plesk. Plesk generates a temporary server hostname for which Let’s Encrypt issues an SSL/TLS certificate. As a result, the Plesk server is automatically secured even if the server does not have a resolvable hostname.

Website card improvements

  • It is now easier to navigate with a new separate tab that groups the most popular actions for WordPress websites. Just a click is enough to switch between Plesk and WordPress dashboards.
  • Focus on your work with a particular website using a separate view.
  • “Connection Info” has been added to the Dashboard in the Dynamic List. It enables users to easily view and change access information for FTP accounts and databases.

SSL It!

  • SSL It! keeps your server and websites secured all the time with SSL/TLS certificates from the leading and trusted certificate authorities (CAs).
  • The look of the extension’s screen has been revamped with the list of certificates available for purchase. The extension now manifests increased details on the issuance of paid certificates and pending orders of purchased certificates. The extension will now secure a domain alias with a certificate issued only for the alias without the main domain name.
  • Customers of certain nationalities can now buy certificates in Plesk without going to the Plesk Online Store.

PHP Composer

  • It is now possible to use the PHP Composer without SSH access. You can now perform the most useful Composer actions in the interface like setting up environment variables, editing your composer.json, and running the Install and Update commands.
  • With the latest update, you can install dependencies, generate classmap, or run tests with a click of a button.
  • Handy UI indicators show whether updating the installed dependencies could break the website.
  • The website will now automatically use the PHP version specified in composer.json.

Repair Kit

  • The Repair Kit is a powerful self-repair tool that can detect and resolve issues with Plesk and Plesk services automatically. For example, diagnosing issues impacting the Plesk server and website availability, resolving the issues by applying suggestions with predefined settings, finding why MySQL is consuming a lot of resources and which domain is responsible for that, etc.

Up-to-date, performant, and stable Plesk

  • Website performance improvements include Brotli compression for NGINX and Microsoft IIS compression.
  • Plesk on Cloud can now automatically update its public and private IP addresses if changed after the server reboot. This improvement is applicable for Plesk on Alibaba Cloud, Amazon EC2, Amazon Lightsail, DigitalOcean, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
