LuxCloud’s session at WHD.India 2013 today began on a note that more or less every single web hosting conference around the globe revolves around – How to sell your cloud to the SMBs?
But how Mr. Harry Singh, Managing Director of the LuxCloud Asia Pacific, addressed the issues that have been holding SMBs back from adopting the cloud was what made his address interesting.
Quoting some SMB statistics that clearly showed a developing inclination towards the cloud, Mr. Harry explored the reasons why IaaS and PaaS have met with success among SMBs but not SaaS.
While IaaS has its product message totally adapted for the SMBs, SaaS hasn’t, thus rendering it non-consumable. End-users in SMBs need to have a specific set of features like enhanced flexibility, usability, mobility, single sign-on, customization and ability to integrate multiple applications for them to consume more cloud services.
Web Hosting providers hence need to enable new services according to the demands of their customers to generate additional revenues. If web hosters themselves become full cloud services providers, they can dramatically reduce their churn rate, increase their customer base and average revenue per user as well.
All of this is possible if web hosters provide guidance, consulting, adaption and implementation of the cloud services in their customer bases. With this, SMBs will continue to trust them with management of their cloud services, said Mr. Harry.
Together with LuxCloud, web hosting providers can broaden their range by focusing on their core services and renting those which they’re missing due to lack of infrastructure/resources, thereby delivering additional value to their customers, he added.
