GoDaddy Posts First Super Bowl 2013 Ad Starring Danica Patrick Online, Pushes .CO Domain

GoDaddy has now posted one of the ads it will run in the game on Feb. 3, a 30-second spot called “YourBigIdea.CO” that encourages you to register a website for your big business idea before someone else gets there first. Longtime Go Daddy girl Danica Patrick—who will have made a record 12 appearances in Super Bowl ads, all for Go Daddy, by the end of the Feb. 3 broadcast—makes a cameo here as the pilot.

Titled “YourBigIdea.CO, created by Deutsch in New York, the ad shows couples around the world discussing great ideas that their husbands haven’t put online yet – and ends with a couple who had put their idea online partying on their own luxurious private plane with Danica Patrick as their pilot and a “sky waitress” topping up their bubbly.

The ad is a big departure for Go Daddy given the complete lack of bare skin or any sexual innuendo and doesn’t really promote .co that much. Sure, .co sits on the screen the whole time, the URL on the screen is GoDaddy.com, and the announcer tells you to register your .co domain at the end. Although that’s a lot of screen time for .co, we think the commercial’s message could have been used just as easily to promote another top level domain.

GoDaddy has a second ad planned for the game. That one will star GoDaddy regular Danica Patrick , model Bar Refaeli and Go Daddy customer and actor Jesse Heiman, who will represent “the smart side of Go Daddy’s support” to its customers. The company has not decided whether to release the second commercial before the Super Bowl or let viewers see it for the first time during the game. “We are debating that,” a spokeswoman said Friday morning. “We will definitely have a teaser out next week.”
