DAILYHOSTNEWS, January10, 2012 – Once again this year, Go Daddy is ready to send a group of deserving students to college with its .ME College Scholarship program. All eligible students need to do is tell their story and apply online for their chance at the college funding.
Go Daddy is the world’s largest provider of Web hosting, domain name registrations and net-new SSL Certificates and initiated the scholarships last year, which helped send 10 students to colleges and universities all over the country.
Now is the time to apply for the next round of funding. Students can submit their Go Daddy .ME Scholarship applications at www.GoDaddy.com/MEscholarship . Go Daddy is giving 10 Go Daddy .ME Scholarships for $10,000 each at a wide variety of institutions.
The reason for starting this scholarship program benefits both the students and Go Daddy.
“At Go Daddy, we value hard work and comradery,” said Go Daddy CEO Warren Adelman. “For us, investing in these students is investing in our own future. These could be our Go Daddy colleagues in a few years. Go Daddy is looking to hire people passionate about technology, people who want to push themselves to make a difference — that’s what Go Daddy is all about.”
According to a recent study by the U.S. Census Bureau, a college degree could mean the difference of $1 million in a person’s career earnings, so applying for a .ME Scholarship is a smart move for students.
To apply for the Go Daddy .ME Scholarship, applicants must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in fall 2012, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and have scored higher than 1000 on the SAT or 21+ on the ACT. Applicants need to submit two letters of recommendation and write a 500-word essay describing how the Internet or Internet technology has helped them in the course of their studies, and how they envision benefiting from it in the future.
“The Go Daddy dotME scholarship helped take some of the burden off my family,” said Annica Benning, who enjoyed the benefits of winning one of the $10,000 scholarships last year. “It really made a difference and I’d encourage other students to apply. It’s a simple process — you should just ‘go for it.'”
The application deadline for the Go Daddy .ME Scholarship is March 31, 2012. Go Daddy’s scholarship recipients are scheduled to be announced at the end of April.
