Facebook iOS App Goes Faster

1 Mins read

On Thursday Facebook released  its upgraded application Facebook 5.0 for iOS users. This updation is launched keeping in mind the past criticism by the users.  Slowness and unresponsiveness were the two problems faced by the Facebook iOS app users .

The previous version was developed using HTML 5, a markup language for building cross-platforms, mobile-friendly apps, and web pages but HTML 5 doesn’t prove fast  for Facebook iOS App.

Back in June this year, two Facebook engineers revealed out the plans to the New York Times for speeding up the Facebook iOS application to perform in a better way. To make this possible, rather than HTML 5, iOS coding language Objective-C, a web based language is used to build the current version. They also claimed that the resultant version will be 2.5 times faster than the former one .

Mark Zuckerberg also made a status update on his Facebook profile page, “We just released a new Facebook app for iPhone and iPad and it’s a lot faster. Our team completely rewrote it from the ground up to focus on speed. It’s a big step forward.”

Finally the Timeline is now supported on the iPad. Moreover Facebook also issued a minor update to the Android platform by adding a Google Play Link and also the Android app now supports faster photo uploads and Emoji in messages.
