Akamai Technologies, a key partner of CYBERIA, a leading Internet and Information Security Services Provider in Saudi Arabia, is set to introduce the first-ever DDoS scrubbing center in the Kingdom. These centers serve as a protective layer for an organization’s entire security infrastructure, offering DDoS protection and additional security features at the internet edge location.
Scheduled for launch in November, the center, facilitated through Akamai’s renowned DDoS protection platform, Prolexic, will revolutionize the realm of cybersecurity within the nation.
With state-of-the-art capabilities and situated within a broader distributed network, this facility will offer dedicated protection against Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. For years, Akamai has been actively providing Content Delivery and Security services in the Kingdom through its local Edge nodes, all linked to the same robust backbone that powers its expansive edge network, covering over 4,100 edge Points of Presence (PoPs) across 131 countries.
The Middle East has emerged as a formidable force in the global economy, poised for accelerated growth in the years ahead. While the Saudi economy has witnessed substantial expansion driven by the emergence of startups and established multinational corporations, it has also heightened the potential for cyberattacks. As the threat landscape evolves, the demand for “always on” DDoS protection grows, necessitating an in-country scrubbing center to eliminate latency and ensure optimal end-user experiences.
Benefits of DDoS scrubbing center
The introduction of this new DDoS scrubbing center, will deliver enhanced protection for businesses, particularly vital for industries at elevated risk such as banking, financial services, insurance, healthcare, the public sector, large enterprises, group companies, and e-commerce.
Local DDoS scrubbing centers bring strategic advantages, including improved response times, cost optimization, enhanced network performance, compliance with data sovereignty regulations, and increased visibility and control. With the proximity of these scrubbing centers, organizations can strengthen their corporate security posture and effectively mitigate DDoS attacks, ensuring uninterrupted business operations.
Jack Diab, Chief Business Development Officer for Cyberia, emphasized, “This new DDOS scrubbing center is another confirmation that the Kingdom has proven itself to be a major global player in Information Technology and Cyber Security with the guidance of the Vision 2030. It will also help maintain the balance between Digital Privacy and Cyber Security.”
This development represents a milestone in fortifying Saudi Arabia’s digital landscape against evolving cyber threats. With the launch of the DDoS scrubbing center, the Kingdom takes a decisive step toward safeguarding its digital infrastructure and ensuring the continued growth of its burgeoning digital economy.
