CtrlS Datacenters Ltd, the leading Rated-4 datacenter operator in Asia, has revealed its ambitious venture with the introduction of a cutting-edge datacenter park in Chennai. This marks the company’s fifth hyperscale Datacenter Campus in India, complementing its existing facilities in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Noida, and Bangalore. The Chennai Datacenter Park, set to receive a substantial investment of Rs 4,000 crore across phases, is part of CtrlS Datacenters’ expansion plans for substantial growth by 2024-25.

Aiming to triple its number of data centers and increase square footage capacity from the current 1.2 million sq. ft. to almost five million sq ft, CtrlS aims to position itself as a major player in the datacenter industry.

Situated in the Ambattur industrial area, the CtrlS Chennai Datacenter Park will consist of two state-of-the-art datacenter buildings covering nearly 1 million square feet, with a combined IT load capacity of 72 MW. The first building, Chennai DC 1, is already fully booked and is slated to commence operations in Q2 2024. Bookings are currently open for the second building, Chennai DC 2, a Ground + 10 floor structure with 27 MW IT load capacity.

This expansion initiative is projected to create 500 direct job opportunities and over 9,000 indirect job openings.

Key features of the CtrlS Chennai Datacenter Campus include a 230 kV on-campus gas-insulated substation (GIS), AI-Ready advanced cooling technologies, and a robust 9-layer physical security system. These features highlight the company’s commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology and ensuring the highest standards of security for its clients.

This expansion follows CtrlS Datacenters’ announcement in October 2023, revealing plans to invest $2 billion over the next six years to scale its operations and expand business operations. The increased investment is driven by the rising demand for data processing and cloud storage solutions across major markets. In response to the surge in AI and cloud adoption, CtrlS is poised to invest in advanced cooling, power management, and overall infrastructure design, solidifying its position as a leader in hyperscale data centers.
