Kicking things off with brief overview of the domain landscape in India, Ms. Neha mentioned how even after ranking 3rd in the number of Internet users around the globe (US and China being No. 1 & 2 respectively), India has an Internet penetration rate of just 11%. Mr. Paul Tells How GlobalSign Helps Add Multiple SSL Certificates on a single IP address at WHD.India 2013

GlobalSign today addressed the exhaustion of IPv4 addresses at WHD.India 2013 and how it is adversely affecting the web hosting providers, who have to bear the exorbitant costs of managing individual IP addresses. Mr. Paul van Brouwershaven, Business Development Director EMEA, GlobalSign, discussed how the need for the adoption of SSL security is on a steep rise with organizations like Facebook making it mandatory for website owners to have an SSL certificate on their website if they want to link it to Facebook or develop a Facebook application. Since each SSL certificate traditionally needs its own IP address, this creates a number of challenges. “With IPv4 addresses exhausting fast, IPv6 can be a solution. GlobalSign is the only one in the CA industry who supports IPv6. There are some ot...

Mr. Harry, LuxCloud Highlights the Importance of Being A Full Cloud Service Provider at WHD.India 2013

LuxCloud’s session at WHD.India 2013 today began on a note that more or less every single web hosting conference around the globe revolves around – How to sell your cloud to the SMBs? But  how Mr. Harry  Singh, Managing Director of the LuxCloud Asia Pacific, addressed  the issues that have been holding SMBs back from adopting the cloud was what made his address interesting. Quoting some SMB statistics that clearly showed a developing inclination towards the cloud, Mr. Harry explored the reasons why IaaS and PaaS have met with success among SMBs but not SaaS. While IaaS has its product message totally adapted for the SMBs, SaaS hasn’t, thus rendering it non-consumable. End-users in SMBs need to have a specific set of features like enhanced flexibility, usability, mobility, single sign...

Citing many   vital statistics from the Parallels SMBs Cloud Insights report that indicated a rapid growth in SMBs buying cloud services, the session titled “Delivering innovation in your cloud offers,” had Mr. John Zanni, VP – Marketing and Alliances, Parallels emphasizing on how most of the opportunity to grow lies in emerging economies, rather than the developed markets. Parallels had a session by Mr.  David Dzienciol, Regional Vice President and General Manager (Asia Pacific), Parallels yesterday as well. The SMB market, growing 3 times faster than the mature market, will overtake mature market size in hosting, communication and collaboration by 2014. Mr. Ernst Tells How to Generate Revenue from App-Market Using OX App Suite at WHD.India 2013

Day 2 of WHD.India 2013 kicked off this morning with an interestingly titled session “Go Beyond email.” Interesting because even though emails significantly shape most of our official conversation, how many of us take it seriously enough, let alone thinking to “go beyond” it? Mr. Ernst Kelting, VP Sales APAC, Open-Xchange thinks you should; and to add to it, he wants to let you know that you can even derive profit from your email. Beginning the session with showing how technological advances over the last couple of years like webification of software, cloud computing, mobilization etc. have transformed the email user experience, Mr. Ernst emphasized the fact that the mobile devices are shifting how businesses and people interact with their world, and quoted a survey by Nielsen Mobile Media...

Mr. Sascha Bayer, CEO, GateSecure talks about “Family Freedom as a Service” at WHD.India 2013

The session I was looking forward most at WHD.India  2013  started with a video showing a pedophile luring a lass in front of her mother, trying to bring home the point that just like parents won’t let anything like this happen IRL to their kids and will protect them, they should do the same when it comes to how children use their Internet. The session titled “Doing well by doing good. Family freedom as a service,” had Mr. Sascha Beyer, CEO, GateSecure, talking about how Family Freedom as a Service  targets every age group – “Your customers, ex-customer and  future customers.” This was followed by a couple of “Don’ts,” as Mr. Sascha  put them: “Don’t think you don’t have to do it” – Emphasizing how internet usage control because of government regul...
