Cisco Announces a Definitive Agreement to Acquire Sourcefire For $2.7 billion

Cisco today announced  a definitive agreement to acquire Sourcefire, a intelligent cybersecurity solutions provider. The acquisition has been approved by the board of directors of each company. Under the terms of the agreement, Cisco will pay $76 per share in cash in exchange for each share of Sourcefire and assume outstanding equity awards for an aggregate purchase price of approximately $2.7 billion, including retention-based incentives. Cisco revealed via an official press release that it expects the acquisition to be slightly dilutive to non-GAAP earnings in fiscal year 2014 due to normal purchase accounting adjustments and integration costs. WordPress.com Users Can Now Register .CO Domain Names at $25/year

WordPress.com today announced via a blog post that it has added .CO as a new top-level domain to its Custom Domains. .CO will now be available for WordPress users at $25/year. Other TLD options available at WordPress.Com are .ME,.COM, .NET and  .ORG. Existing WordPress users can  register a .CO domain name directly from their dashboard. Cloudant Integrates BigCouch Code Into the Open Source Apache CouchDB Project

Globally distributed database-as-a-service (DBaaS) provider Cloudant   today announced integration of  its CouchDB NoSQL database, known as BigCouch,  to the open source Apache CouchDB project. The merging of   BigCouch code into the CouchDB codebase will make it possible to manage and replicate data with CouchDB at a much larger scale. Cloudant will now stop development of BigCouch but continue to make cluster-scaling and fault-tolerance enhancements within the CouchDB project and will reuse that code in Cloudant’s database service.
